Grand Canyon

Matthias caught my flu bug so we just hung out in the hotel all morning. I finally got bored enough that I ventured out to the Grand Canyon by myself. Matthias had been to the south rim before so he didn't seem to mind. I got there around 3 and hiked along the rim for a bit then towards sunset I took the park shuttle out to some further lookout points.

The view from the south rim is WAY better than the view from the north rim and I really enjoyed it. However, it was absolutely freezing at the canyon yesterday. I think I heard someone say it was 53 degrees but it was also extremely windy so it felt much colder than that. Not what I expected while visiting the Grand Canyon. Sunset was very pretty and soon after that I headed back to Flagstaff. It was a pretty stressful drive since the shuttle bus driver freaked me out about hiking deer or elk. I actually even saw an elk at the side of the road and several deer. Thank goodness they didn't decide to run in front of me!
