Dulles Observations

So yesterday I arrived at Dulles almost exactly 2 hours before my flight. I think Matthias thought I was nuts for getting there so early, but I was glad I did since it took an hour and 15 minutes to get from the car to the gate. I had just enough time to use the bathroom and pick up dinner before I had to board the plane. At any rate, in addition to the crazy long line there were two interesting things that I noticed at the airport.

1. The helpers at the security line, who do not appear to be employed by TSA, were wearing what can only be described as a tux. It was ridiculous. Why do I need a person in a weird tux telling me which line to stand it?

2. Sissy Spacek was there. She was flying first class and wandered through the regular security line like the rest of us. She's probably an inch taller than me and has very long hair. She had awesome sandles on that I couldn't figure out how she would get off walking through the metal detector and didn't have a chance to find out. One person in line seemed to recognize her and chatted her up a little bit.

I guess if you have to stand in a security line for that long it should feel like a star-studded gala!
